About

The main focus of Michigan State University’s Ghanaian Physics Education research group is to collaborate with physics educators in Ghana to learn about teaching physics.

Our collaborators are the University of Cape Coast and Adanu in Ghana. We are working together to understand and meet the needs of Ghanaians teaching and learning physics.

Here’s how we got started.

This project was started by undergraduates Gabriel Moreau, Dylan Smith, Matt Ring, Aaylayah Spencer, and Evan Brook in the winter of 2018. They reached out to their professor, Dr. Danny Caballero, co-director of MSU’s Physics Education Research Lab, because they were interested in learning about physics education in Africa.

The group was inspired by a video from the YouTube channel, Sixty Symbols. The physics education project in Ethiopia run by University of Nottingham Professor Phil Moriarty was foundational for this project. We enjoy and respect this work so it seems appropriate to plug the video here.
