-====== Project 14Showdown at boar tiger corral Part 2 ======+====== Project 15Choose your own adventure ======

-After the epic showdown, the leaders of the boar tiger defense team decide to commission the development of an arcade game simulating the battle.  The head of the development team, Boris Grishenko (Борис Грищенко), recently resigned.  He leaves for you a partially completed section of code which aims to show the paths that the cannonball and block trace out in time.  Pick up where he left off.+{{course_planning:cyoa022.jpg?|}}

-{{183_projects:F15_P13_splash.png}}+Your group is to design a problem that incorporates the three main principles the p-cubed course has focused on:

-To make things more exciting, the defense team requests that: +  - Conservation of Energy
-  * the cannonball can be shot with a muzzle velocity of $v=1600\,{\rm m/s}$ +  - Conservation of Momentum
-  * the mass of the cannonball be increased to $m_{\rm ball}=400\,{\rm kg}$ +  - Conservation of Angular Momentum
-  * the mass of the block be fixed at $m_{\rm block}=1700\,{\rm kg}$ having corresponding moment of inertia $I_{\rm block}=33\,{\rm kg\cdot m^{2}}$ about its rotation axis +
-  * the cannonball can only strike the block perpendicularly+

-While you are at itgenerate a plot of the total energy before and after the collision.+Your design should include both the **problem statement** (storylinejust look at any of ours for details) and the **solution** to the problem. Imagination is a plus. You should use the four quadrants and include any appropriate sketches (including appropriate measurements and any necessary free-body diagrams). You can write it up on the sheets provided and on the white boards. Try to include a motivation within the problem for all 3 laws of conservation and not just include them randomly.

-https://www.glowscript.org/#/user/paul.w.irving/folder/Public/program/RotatingBlocks+A good solution will not just be equations but will include some commentary.

 +We encourage you to take this opportunity to review any physics you had particular difficulty with and the tutors are here to help you consider the correctness of the physics you are trying to include in your problem.

 +====== Project 15Indiana Jones & The Temple of the Boar Tiger ======
 +
 +Indiana Jones is trying to steal a boar tiger idol from another dank cave. Unfortunately for him he has triggered another boulder trap and must escape with his life and the idol. The boulder of radius 2.5 meteres is sitting on top of a 4.5m incline and the trap is set into motion when a stalactite of mass of 20kg falls moving with a velocity of 31 m/s just before impact onto the 500 kg boulder and embeds perfectly into the boulder setting it in motionAt the bottom of the incline it flattens out so it is perfectly horizontalIndiana is wearing his rubber shoes and is at the bottom of the incline about to jump onto a vine that is angled 58 degrees from the cave ceiling and reaches to the ground of the incline.  The chasm Indiana needs to get across is 11.3 meters. At the otherside of the chasm is a 1.2 meter concrete platform that then runs into a ton of spikes on the wall. The platform is 7.056 meters below the jumping off point for Indiana Jones. What velocity does Indiana need to jump with and where on the vine should he jump to in order to make it across the chasm and avoid the spikes. Also does the boulder impale on the spikes before or after Indiana makes it across the chasm.

 +====== Project 15: Super Snail vs Evil Poisonous Toad ======
 +
 +{{course_planning:2chainz.png}}
 +
 +For as long as the planet Kachow (surface gravity of 15 m/s^2) has existed, evil poisonous psychedelic toads have ruled. Their psychedelic abilities prevented any living beings from being able to stop them. They are rapidly growing in population and their large levels of poison are causing serious harm to Kachow. Scientists in a remote toad protected lab have been hard at work for a solution. They were losing hope until one day a solution came, or slid, to their door. At the door there was 2 Chains – a giant African snail who had been given super powers. 2 Chains is able to communicate with the scientists and tells them he has a special shell of 0.5 m diameter that has flaming darts that he is able to shoot out simultaneously.  If the scientists could kill King Toad, all the other toads will retreat to their underground liar. King Toad resides at the bottom of a hill, and there is a spiky pit behind him. If King Toad is heated to a temperature of 228 degree Celsius, and slides into the pit he will perish forever. The plan is that 2 Chains will sit at the top of the 19 m high hill and rotate his snail shell with an angular velocity of 44 rad/sA large number of flaming aluminum darts of mass 1 kg will be released from the edge of the shell and launched towards King ToadKing Toad sits on a surface with a coefficient of kinetic friction of 0.17 at a distance of 18 m from the edge of the spiky pit. King Toad is 5 m tall, has a mass of 500 kg, a specific heat capacity of 1.2 J/g/K,and an initial temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. How can they succeed?
