Charges move to the surface of conductors

The Electric field is zero inside the conductor

Electric field should point radially away/toward a sphere (approximate as a point charge outside)

Electric field should point radially away/toward a cylinder - except near the ends (approximate at line outside)

Near the middle - the field looks more or less uniform

Weird things happen near the edges of charged shapes
