  • Charges move to the surface of conductors
  • The Electric field is zero inside the conductor
  • Electric field should point radially away/toward a sphere (approximate as a point charge outside)
  • Electric field should point radially away/toward a cylinder - except near the ends (approximate at line outside)
  • Near the middle - the field looks more or less uniform
  • Weird things happen near the edges of charged shapes
  • If outside object - doesn't matter if insulator or conductor
  • If inside object - it definitely does matter
